Stitching, Finally!

I finally stitched today--for the first time in two and a half months. It was good to break out my projects again. I decided to work on Oberlin's Minnesota Sampler, and will post a photo soon.

I noticed that the last time I posted here I was home with a sore throat. Believe it or not, I was at home again today with a sore throat and virus. I work with small children and sadly I don't seem to fight off their germs very well. Someone is always sick in my classroom, it seems. Any suggestions on building up immunity? Vitamins don't seem to do the trick.

A few weeks ago we went to a beautiful wedding. Our daughter's sister-in-law got married, and our daughter was the matron of honor. Her baby is due in a few weeks, and that is something we're really so excited about! Here are some photos of that beautiful day. Enjoy!

Some Wedding Memories - One Year Later

Mom's Tussie Mussie and Bride's Bouquet
I can't believe that already one year has passed since our daughter got married! Above is one of my favorite flower pictures of the day, taken by my niece. It's a photo of the tussie mussie I carried that day along with a bit of our daughter and her beautiful bouquet. The day was so gorgeous, and the wedding holds many memories I'll treasure forever. Happy Anniversary to a great young couple!

A White Wedding

We just returned from a short trip back to the midwest. As a matter of fact, I wish we'd have stayed longer as the trip was simply too short for the amount of travel time required.

The first part of our jaunt is about a fifty mile ride to the largest airport in the area, and that trip amounts to a few hours due to traffic. After that our flight is about three hours. From there it's a short ride to the car rental place, and onto our destination another 165 miles from the city to which we fly. All told, it's about 12 hours from our doorstep to our destination back in the small town we visit.

We were there only three nights, so that gave us two full days at our destination. It truly wasn't enough time, but our main goal was to attend a wedding and we got to do that so it was all well worth it.

We live where the temperature is about 60-70 degrees during the day, even in the winter months. When we arrived at our destination, the temperature was six degrees. Brrr... It's the first time I've been back in the midwest without snow in the winter. It was odd to see it bright outside without snow when the temperature was so low.

The oddity ended on our second day there when we awakened to this:

Rental Car and Snow

Naturally that was the day of the wedding we were there to attend. Our sweet niece got to wed on a snowy day wearing a strapless dress and strappy shoes. Her attendants also wore strapless gowns!

Here's another picture of the weather the day of the wedding. I think it's so lovely, even if it is cold.

Here are the attendants with our niece in the middle:

Here's a photo of the fathers of the bride and groom. They're attempting to light the gorgeous snow sculptures that will lead guests to the church ceremony. The constant snowfall prevented the lighting from happening at all.

It was a beautiful wedding, and we had a complete blast experiencing our first small town wedding. There were 350 people at the reception! We ate a wonderful meal and danced the night away. I even got to polka for the first time since my ballet days, and unfortunately I was a bit too exuberant for my partner. My partner fell on the floor, in fact. No one was injured, and the fun continued.

I loved the snow, but it's great to be back here where the temperature outside is over 70 degrees today.

Glorious Spring

I haven't posted here in a long while. Life has been very busy, and this is the first weekend we haven't had people coming over to visit for the day or stay overnight in about four weeks, or more. I love having people over here, but it is nice to have a little rest, too.

The above photos were taken by our daughter's wedding photographer. They are of her and her groom at their wedding. The wedding was so pretty, and it happened to turn out that the weather was spectacular that day. The previous day was windy, and the day after the wedding was gloomy and rainy. We were so happy to have a beautiful April day for that special occasion in our lives.

This morning I finally joined Bob in a walk with our dog, and then we enjoyed our coffee on the backyard patio. Our flowers were blooming and bright in the sun, the backyard birds were feeding, and as we sat there our cats and our dog enjoyed their morning lounge. Our three hydrangea bushes are blooming now, and for me that's something to truly behold!

I'm still stitching a bit on Summer Queen, and soon I'll be ready to just do the rest of the beading. School ends in about three weeks, so that will be a nice respite from all the hectic times here.

I had a stitching GTG a few weeks ago and was joined by Darla (Sisquoc) and Laura (AKA Larua, Threads BB owner, Laura's Books). We had a great time laughing, sharing our work, and simply enjoying each others' company. I hope we can do it again soon! I should have been a good blogger and taken a photo, but somehow it escaped my mind.

I hope to get some stitching in this weekend. We'll have to wait and see!

We made it.

Our daughter L. got married on Saturday. I tried to upload some photos here yesterday but couldn't manage it at all. Here's one of the two of them enjoying the reception.

The weather was beautiful that day, hitting around 74 degrees with no wind. The following day the weather was not so good with a bit of rain and a cold temperature, so we really lucked out. The entire ceremony and reception were outdoors.

I still feel like I've been hit by a truck as the whole thing took so much energy for so many months. It was worth it, of course!

We now have a new son-in-law, and we adore him. It's a great feeling.

Eddie and L

Here's a photo of our dog Eddie and our daughter L. It was taken yesterday, and I wanted to share it here.

L. just had her hair/make-up trial done for her upcoming wedding. She removed her veil, tiara, and I snapped this photo of her with our dog.

It reminds me of a photo we have of her with our previous dog Katie that was taken when she was about five years old. Where does time go? You turn around, and eighteen years have gone by. Your oldest child is 23, and you're twice that old and then some. Sigh.

Hopefully the photo publishing will work this time. It's about the 10th time I've tried to upload the photo today. Hurrah for the 'new' blogger.
