A Knotty Finish

Yes, I did it! My first finish in over THREE years. The stocking I started in December 2003 is now done. I'll wash it later this week and get it ready for the not-so-LNS finishing folks.

I changed a few of the french knots to white beads. Thanks, Terri, for the suggestion.

It's weird, I've always liked french knots, but I was having trouble doing them on this piece. I then figured out that the problem wasn't the french knots, but it was that I wasn't having good luck with them while using Q-snaps. I've always french knotted the 'in hand' way, and never with the Q-snaps before. I removed the Q-snaps and they worked out just fine. I still left the beads on the mistle toe greenery, as I like it that way just fine.

The popcorn strings are a clump of french knots, and they seem all right, too. I did them inhand after casting my Q-snap aside.

I've now done two stockings in the BHG series, and I'd like to do at least two more in that series. I still haven't decided if I'll do that, really, or switch to Shepherd's Bush.

Close to the finish line!

I finally decided to stitch last night even though I didn't really have the time to do so. I sat and worked on my stocking with my new JJ petite needles for a few hours, and at this point I'm on the outline stitch of the whole stocking. That means, I'M ALMOST DONE! And yes, ladies, you're right. The JJ needles are great.

I'd wanted to work on the stocking today, but it's almost 7 PM and I don't know if I'll find the time.

Well, at least I'm close to the finish line on that stocking. That feels very, very good.

I started it in December of 2003.

Time flies...

Time has flown by since I last came here. My voice barely returned about 5 days ago, and I actually returned to work and taught without one for a few days. It went surprisingly well, in fact.

On Saturday I met a group of local stitching friends at a not-so-local NS about 40 miles from here. We had a great time laughing and talking. Our shopping was followed by a wonderful lunch at Mimi's Restaurant. Terri shared some wonderful packages of TimTams with us, and now I can clearly see what all the fuss is about!
Thanks for bringing them, Terri.

The last few days have been busy at work with overtime on Monday and today. We also celebrated my daughter's birthday today and on Sunday. I can't believe she's 23. Where does time go?

I still haven't had a chance to stitch and try out those new John James petite needles I bought on Saturday. Maybe soon I'll have the chance.
