Creepy Fence Corner
Have you ever lived with something rather dreadful-aesthetically speaking- for way too long a time? It just kind of becomes part of your environment, and you don't even notice how wretched it is anymore. It becomes even worse than ever over time, but still it kind of just blends into the environment. That especially happens when it's off to the side, and it's not something you have to look at each day. That's how it was here for over 18 years, with a corner of our yard away from our main living and patio area. Here's the dreadful thing I'm talking about:
A few more views of that charming corner of the yard:
I can't believe it really--it looked hideous. The tree was helping hold up the fence, no kidding!
So in late May we had a new fence constructed:
It sure does look better. I truly can't believe how hideous the old fence was. How did it stand in the Santa Ana winds?
This summer we were going to paint the new fence, and create a new planter near the fence. I wanted to fill it with all of our favorite plants. Sigh. That will all have to wait, but at least for now the creepy fence corner is no more!
I have been stitching a bit, and will have an update soon.

I have a few of those creepy corners myself, and like you, we have been tackling a few this summer. The new fence looks great ~ can't wait to see what you plant. It's like having a brand new canvas!

Looks much better. It is easy to be so overwhelmed with corners like these. Can't wait to see the planter. Maybe in the Fall.

What a great change! I know that back fences are low on the priority list in terms of weekend projects, but doesn't it feel great to have it gone?

GASP! I didn't know you had moved in next to me. Your old fence looked exactly like ours did before a storm took it down, and your new fence looks almost exactly like out replacement. Isn't that a nice feeling, knowing that - at least for a while - you have one less thing to worry about?

What an improvement! I know just what you mean about putting up with something for a long time and then you finally fix it and are like WHOA! LOL Congratulations.
Just wanted to let you know that you and your family are still in my thoughts!

Your new fence looks great. I bet it will be wonderful all painted and with planters of lovely flowers by it.
